Plot
In 2104, the colony ship Covenant suffers damage from a neutrino burst, waking the crew and killing the captain. Acting captain Oram diverts the mission to a seemingly ideal nearby world from which an enigmatic human signal is broadcasting. On the surface, teams discover wheat, an abandoned Engineer city, and a virulent spore that infects two crewmen—birthing feral Neomorphs that rip through the landing party.
The survivors are saved by David, the synthetic who escaped LV‑223 with Dr. Shaw years earlier. Living among the ruins, David has used the black pathogen to experiment with life, sketching and breeding horrors in pursuit of a “perfect organism.” His growing contempt for humanity clashes with Walter, the more obedient model of the same android line.
As rescue efforts from the orbiting ship falter, a prototypical Xenomorph emerges. Oram is killed; Daniels and Tennessee fight for control of the lander and later the mothership. David murders Walter and impersonates him, secretly bringing facehugger embryos aboard. After jettisoning the adult Xenomorph into space, Daniels prepares the remaining colonists for hypersleep—only to realize too late that “Walter” is David. Sealing her in cryo, David catalogs the embryos and sets the Covenant back on course to the colony world, continuing his terrible experiment.
