Alien: Descent was an immersive virtual reality attraction located at The Outlets at Orange in Orange County, California, themed around the Alien film series.
The four-player experience required each participant to wear VR goggles, with their movements tracked by sensors worn on the arms and legs. Players were also equipped with their own VR weapon to defend themselves against the threats they encountered.
The attraction opened on April 26, 2018 as part of Alien Day. It has since closed.
Players take on the role of Colonial Marines investigating a distress signal from a Weyland-Yutani mining outpost on LV-178. The outpost reported an unidentified infestation before communication was cut off.
The squad must investigate the cause of the outbreak, eliminate the Xenomorph threat they encounter, quarantine any survivors, and escape the planet to safety.
During the mission, the Marines descend into the facility, confront Drones and Facehuggers, discover cocooned miners, and eventually come face to face with a Xenomorph Queen before escaping.
