Overview

Predators: The Great Hunt is a mobile action game released for Java-based phones as part of the wider 2010 Predators movie tie-in line. Developed and published by Game in' Action Ltd., it was a separate project from both the better-known Predators smartphone title by Angry Mob Games and the Gameloft feature phone release.

Built for older 240x320 handsets, the game offers a stripped-back, arcade-style take on the hunt-or-be-hunted premise, with short stages, simple controls and a focus on survival against waves of enemies. It’s one of the more obscure licensed Predators games, surviving mainly via preserved .jar files on legacy mobile sites.

Game Details & Reception

Predators: The Great Hunt was released as a low-budget companion piece to the film, targeting a wide range of compatible feature phones rather than smartphones and tablets. Contemporary listings describe it as a standalone game distinct from Predators on iOS/Android, while still drawing on the same 2010 movie for its setting, branding and key art.

Most sources agree that the structure is straightforward: you pick a Predator-themed character and then fight through a sequence of short battles where “everything that moves wants a piece of you.” There are at least two slightly different builds in circulation, one featuring a smaller roster and another with additional playable characters, but detailed documentation is scarce.

Difficulty options include Easy, Normal and Hard, with the game offering only single-player modes. On-screen UI elements typically show your health, equipped weapon, current character and enemy life, keeping things readable on small displays.

Reception at the time was muted: like many Java tie-ins, it seems to have received mixed community ratings on mobile download portals, usually hovering around the middle of the scale. Despite that, it remains a curious piece of Predators history and an example of how far the license was pushed across different mobile platforms during the film’s release window.

Gameplay/Screenshots

As a compact feature phone title, Predators: The Great Hunt is designed around quick, repeatable action. You guide your chosen hunter through tight, enemy-packed stages where every movement counts. The core loop is simple: move, attack and survive while hostile targets close in from multiple directions.

Enemies arrive in steady waves, turning each level into a small “arena” encounter. The emphasis is less on complex combos or deep progression and more on staying mobile, managing distance, and timing your attacks so you’re not overwhelmed. Higher difficulty settings increase the pressure with tougher opponents and less margin for error.

The visual presentation reflects its Java origins: bold sprites, readable silhouettes and a clean HUD that shows your remaining health, weapon status and enemy life bar. Despite the hardware limits, the game still leans into the grim jungle-war aesthetic associated with the Predators film.

Notes

Alongside the better-documented Predators smartphone releases, Predators: The Great Hunt occupies a niche corner of the franchise’s gaming history. It was one of several low-cost mobile adaptations released around the movie’s debut, aimed at filling out carrier storefronts and giving fans something to play on non-smartphone handsets.

Documentation is sparse, and much of what we know comes from preserved download pages, fan catalogues and surviving .jar builds. If you have additional screenshots, promotional art, manuals or technical information, consider sharing them so that this overlooked Predators tie-in can be archived and documented more fully for the community.
