Predator: Hunting Grounds is an asymmetrical multiplayer shooter developed by IllFonic. Originally released for PlayStation 4 and Windows on April 24, 2020, it later arrived on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 1, 2024. Set in hostile jungle warzones, the game pits a four-person Fireteam against a single Predator in tense hunt-or-be-hunted matches.
Matches revolve around completing objectives under pressure. Fireteam players push through paramilitary operations while the Predator stalks from the trees, using advanced alien gear, stealth, and brutal close-range attacks to claim trophies. If the Predator falls, the battle can shift again as recovery forces move in to secure the body and its technology.
One player takes control of the Predator while four others fight as Fireteam Voodoo in objective-driven multiplayer missions. Human players balance speed, teamwork, and firepower while the Predator relies on mobility, camouflage, thermal vision, and specialized weaponry to isolate targets and strike at the right moment.
The game blends first-person and third-person action, offering different approaches depending on which side you play. Fireteam missions focus on coordination and survival, while Predator rounds reward patience, positioning, and choosing exactly when to attack.
The Fireteam drops into dangerous compounds to complete high-priority operations such as infiltrating enemy camps, grabbing sensitive intel, sabotaging communications, and finishing tactical objectives before reaching the extraction chopper.
If the Predator joins the fight, the mission quickly becomes a struggle to survive. Outplaying it can open a brief opportunity to finish the hunter for good, but that is only part of the challenge. Once the Predator is down, the squad may have to stop its self-destruct sequence and hold their ground against incoming forces trying to recover the alien tech left behind.
The Predator enters the hunt in search of worthy trophies, targeting elite soldiers who prove themselves capable prey. Success depends on reading the battlefield, choosing the right target, and striking before the Fireteam can regroup.
Its arsenal is built around fear, stealth, and precision. Cloaking helps it vanish into the jungle, thermal vision reveals movement and body heat, and tracking tools help judge which target is worth taking. From there, the goal is simple: isolate the prey, kill efficiently, and claim a grisly trophy before the survivors can turn the hunt around.
